About Lauren Ascher
f you’re a high-achieving professional who feels capable on paper but overwhelmed in practice, you’re not alone — and you’re not broken.
Much of my work is with adults who are intelligent, driven, and deeply responsible, yet struggling with executive function challenges, ADHD, burnout, or the cumulative weight of demanding careers and personal obligations. My role is to help you understand what’s actually getting in the way — and to build approaches that make life feel more workable and sustainable.
Professional Background
My professional background spans law, education, and mental health, which allows me to work at the intersection of practical functioning and emotional well-being. I support attorneys, academics, medical professionals, executives, graduate students, and working parents who are navigating high expectations while trying to stay grounded and intact.
I hold a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and am a certified ADHD & Executive Function Coach through the ADD Coach Academy (ADDCA), one of the few fully accredited PAAC/ICF programs. I also earned a J.D. from Columbia Law School and a Master’s degree in Teaching from Pace University.
Before moving into counseling and coaching, I spent over a decade working in the legal field, including roles as a federal law clerk, litigation associate, and supervising attorney in a public interest legal services organization. That experience gives me firsthand understanding of the pressure, cognitive load, and identity strain that often come with high-stakes professional environments.
How I work
My work is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in real life. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all approaches, quick fixes, or pushing people to override their limits in the name of productivity or resilience.
Instead, I focus on understanding patterns — how you think, respond to pressure, and move through the world — and helping you build ways of working and living that feel sustainable. Sessions are paced, reflective, and practical, with attention to both insight and follow-through.
I bring a non-pathologizing lens to this work. Many of the challenges my clients face are not personal failures, but reasonable responses to prolonged stress, high expectations, and complex environments. My role is to help you make sense of what’s happening, reduce unnecessary self-criticism, and move forward with more clarity and self-trust.
